R.I.P. Geraldine Kane of Pink Kross
Scumbag by Pink Kross
"Upon their formation in 1993, the three piece of Pink Kross brought on their hybrid of surf and punk to their native of Glasgow, Scotland. Hailing the likes of The Ramones, The Lunachicks and the Cosmic Psychos as a major inspiration, Bouvier Records packaged the bands first EP Punk or Die in 1994. Eventually releasing three additional singles throughout the next two years, the settled line up of Vic Blue (drums/ vocals), Jane Strain (bass/ vocals) and Jude Fuzz (guitar/ vocals) put out their first full-length Chopper Chix from V.P. Hell in 1998." ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide

Hope For Peace in the New Year
Happy New Year from me to you and may it bring us all peace.
From Yoko Ono:
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland.
The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007, John Lennon’s 67th birthday. IMAGINE PEACE TOWER symbolizes Lennon’s and Ono’s continuing campaign for world peace which began in the sixties, was sealed by their marriage in 1968 and will continue forever. More info at www.IMAGINEPEACE.com
Think PEACE, Act PEACE, Spread PEACE.
AFFIRMATION FOR 2009 AND BEYOND
Thank you, thank you, thank you
Our planet is healthy and whole
Every part of the planet is revitalized and healed.
We, the people of Earth
See clearly, Hear clearly, Think clearly.
Express and communicate our thoughts clearly
Spiritually, Mentally, and physically.
For the benefit of ours and other planets’
We make the right judgement, right decision, right move
at the right time and the right place
for ourselves and others.
We are now bathing in the light of Dawn
Standing in the Heaven we have created on Earth.
We now wish to share this Age of Joy
With all Lives in the Universe.
We are all one, united with infinite and eternal love.
For the highest good of all concerned, So be it.

Screw Winter - It's Beach House Baby!
Beach House have a new 7' (mmm vinyl) single titled "Used To Be" with a b-side demo version of "Apple Orchard" from 2005. I am in love with this deceptively simple song and I know you will be too. They have been touring extensively to support their sophomore album and are now working on a new record in their home town of Baltimore.

Sigur Rós Concert Film News
News from the Sigur Ros camp:
"We can now confirm that the shows were indeed recorded and pass on a bit more information on this. the shoot was directed by acclaimed director vincent morisset, who also shot the “neon bible” interactive video for arcade fire. the footage is currently being edited in montreal and promises to be a nice contrast to “heima“, which had a lot of links to context, time and surroundings, whereas this forthcoming concert footage will be purely performance-based.
as is fairly common in sigur rós land, it will be released when it’s ready and, as such, we dont have any ideas of release dates - but we’re looking forward to it already."

The Social Registry (Record Label)
Free 2008 Mix Tape and a bonus:
THE OUGHT-EIGHT SOCIAL REGISTRY REVIEW
"This year just *flew* by did it not? On a macro scale, we threw a couple
great SXSW events, moved offices, bought a label touring van nick-named
"Roja", partnered up with new fashion label AHAHA for a bunch of craziness,
did some solid live music podcasting, held down CMJ.....
We would of course add that TSR released some great records by some
fantastic bands but we are a little biased. Just in case you don't believe
us, we thought it would be good to recap some of the great times we had this
year. To soundtrack it we've included links to two mix-tapes, the first one
plays as a survey of our 2008 release schedule while the bonus-mix tape
collects a lot of the unreleased stuff we, um, 'leaked' this year...live
tracks, remixes, things of that ilk."
