Portland Cello Project Working With THAO
Text taken directly from the press release:
The somewhat intimidating 8-16-person cello ensemble has experienced a meteoric rise in the vibrant Portland music scene, thanks in part to the group’s deep-rooted philosophy of building a stronger music community through collaboration. Portland Cello Project performances are eclectic and incredible things—the cellists are as likely to mix an impeccably arranged Salt n’ Pepa cover with Bach and follow the medley with something by Arvo Pärt or classic Nintendo game songs rewritten for cello as they are to enlist beatbox/comedian/playwright Reggie Watts to collaborate on-stage with them in front of 700 people, covering a Britney Spears song on the fly.
In addition to working with artists from across the nation, the PCP has collaborated and performed with a veritable who’s who list of Portland musicians, including Laura Gibson, Horse Feathers, The Dandy Warhols, The Builders and The Butchers, Mirah and Loch Lomond. Given this, it’s natural that they are now working with Kill Rock Stars artist Thao Nguyen of Thao With The Get Down Stay Down and musician Justin Power, and just as natural that they’ve found a home with the most quintessentially community-based label in the Pacific Northwest. The album, which features four collaborative songs apiece from Thao and Power, is being released on June 9th, 2009.
In its usual grand and exciting style, the group is excited to perform five pre-release shows at the much-anticipated opening weekend of Portland’s brand new Mississippi Studios: two shows (7 and 10 PM) on Friday, March 6th with Storm Large, Justin Power and Thao, two shows (same times) on Saturday, March 7th with Tu Fawning, Justin Power and Thao, and one 2 PM all-ages matinee show on Sunday, March 8th with Justin Power and Thao.
More details on Portland Cello Project’s upcoming 2009 efforts on Kill Rock Stars will be revealed soon.
This is an appearance by Australian artist Paul Turner, performing "Be Happy" with The Portland Cello Project.

More On the Santogold Santigold Name Change
I asked the higher ups about the Santogold/Santigold name change and was forwarded this official statement and told it was all there is on the topic as of today.
What’s My Muthafuckin Name?
…Santigold
Change the graffiti on the bathroom wall, get your tattoo fixed, get your t-shirt airbrushed and change the name on your year end list- Santogold is now Santigold. She’s not telling you why, that’s just how it is. No unpronounceable symbol, no numbers where they shouldn’t be, no random capitalization, just plain ass Santigold so remember that.
Downtown/Lizard King released Santigold’s self-titled breakthrough CD in April and it instantly became one of 2008’s most acclaimed albums garnering international raves. Critics and radio have championed the record’s standout tracks “L.E.S. Artistes”, “Creator” and her latest single “Shove It”.

Trent Reznor Producing New Jane's Addiction / R.I.P. Santogold
More unconfirmed news:
A photo was posted on the the Nine Inch Nails Website of Dave Navarro in the studio along with the word "clue" and “A look at something else that’s been going on, pt 4.”
Dave and Trent have worked together in the past, so this may be another solo project for Navarro. Although, after Trust No One, I've certainly had enough of that. I've also heard possible tour pairing rumblings for Jane's and N.I.N.
However if one clicks on "blog" on the mysteriously blank Jane's Addiction website they will find "Jane’s Addiction will be performing again soon in LA. If you want to attend please register for our mailing list. The first 500 people to register that are 18 years of age and older will be invited to come. If there are any changes or updates, we will post the information here. Thanks!" JA
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Santogold has changed her name to Santigold on her myspace profile as well as all accompanying information. Further investigation found this news on cmj.com:
"According to court records, in 2008, Santo Rigatuso (aka Santo Gold) filed a suit against Santi White (the artist formerly known as Santogold) on June 17 in the New York Southern District Court citing trademark infringement. Rigatuso, a singer and actor, claims he's been using the name "Santo Gold" since 1983, but Santi White said she was given the nickname "Santogold" by a friend in the '80s. Santigold explained that when she was about 12 years-old, she used to wear large gold earrings that said "Santi" on them. She earned her nickname when her friends saw an infomercial for cheap gold called "Santo Gold" and used it to form what became her stage name."

Rumor Mill: Wachowski Brothers To Make Superman Trilogy? And News On The Logan's Run Remake
Snce it isn't from me - it's unconfirmed, but...
Ballack of Ain't It Cool News Spills Some alleged Beans:
Ninja Assassin by James McTeigue is being produced by Hollywood heavyweight Joel Silver. Ballack reports that while in Berlin McTeigue said the following:
1.)"Ninja Assassin is locked and complete," and "Action scenes are absolutely brutal, unbelievable vision from the Wachowski's in blocking the fights with the Hong Kong stunt team."
2.) McTeigue confirmed that Plastic Man was the next project in the pipeline for the Wachowski's and he had been signed on to provide Second Unit support. Says the movie has been delayed indefinitely due to a major shake up of projects at WB.
3.) Bryan Singer has refused to undertake a re-boot of the Superman franchise.
4.) He stated the Wachowski Brothers had been approached to re-boot the franchise as a trilogy and they are currently reviewing their options as its like being asked to take the final play in a superbowl final. Says if they do agree, he will likely either succumb to providing second unit support on the movie or will champion the directorship of Plastic Man.
5. Regarding Logan's Run, McTeigue reportedly stated "Bryan Singer is looking to move on to Logan's Run, a movie to be produced by Joel Silver."
