Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill (Hollywood that is)

There is a rumor that the infamous "they" are remaking the classic Russ Meyer film Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill. I really hope this isn't true. Not that I am against more boobs in films, but there are enough creative people with tons of ideas who just aren't connected.

There is no need for all of these rehashes and remakes. I find the frame for frame rehashes especially absurd. Psycho? What was Van Sant thinking? Even someone with one film 101 course in 'em knows you can't do better than Hitchcock in Psycho. And what was the point of Haneke's Funny Games exact remake? Was it because it's assumed that American audiences love their violence, but can't handle it with subtitles? And if the film was an exercise in manipulation - was this Haneke's way of saying "In case you were too dumb to get it the first time - here it is again, but with Michael Pitt?" Texas Chainsaw Massacre? And Halloween - Rob Zombie you should get a rock in your candy bag next year.

A gossip column (which I only came across when trying to research this rumor which was posted on Bust.com) stated that Tarantino was remaking the classic go go girl murder boobfest, but then again it also said that Britney Spears would play Varla. I am choosing to think he is above such sacrilege - being a film connoisseur of both fine films and cult classics. Anyway, he's in pre-production for Inglorious Bastards. I checked IMDB though - and it is listed for 2010. So someone is at least toying with the idea of remaking it. Disconcerting. Enough with the comic books and sequels and remakes already. Do I have to sic Z-Man on their asses?

I have to hand it to you, blogger: the statement, "Here it is again, but with Michael Pitt," gave me goosebumps. It was profound. It made me feel things.

Anything, and I mean anything, is better if it involves Michael Pitt.

Anything.
