1958 - 2009
Richard LaVon Griffiths, 50 passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Dad, surrounded by his sisters at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah February 2, 2009. He was born October 29, 1958 in Cedar City, Utah to Louis LaVon & Wanda Jane Yardley Griffiths. He was welcomed home to Minersville by 3 older sisters who loved him to pieces. He grew up and attended Minersville Elementary thru the 8th grade. He attended Beaver High School where he was active in Student Government, track and shop. He graduated with his class in 1977. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Commercial Business Radio in Delta and owned his own Electronics Business in Beaver. He worked as a truck driver for Circle 4 Farms for the last 14 years. His work was his life. He loved his job, made many friends and worked hard. He married Mary Jo Sant, October 10, 1992 in Beaver, Utah. Richard was a kind man. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone with anything. He was a devoted son, father, brother and grandfather. He loved "Lost in Space", "Stevie Nicks" and "Fleetwood Mac" and electronics. He also loved antique's and movies. He loved good food, good friends and good times. For his 50th birthday he took a trip to Indiana to celebrate this milestone with his friends.
He was a devoted son to his mother and cared for her lovingly. He cherished good times with Amber and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, sisters Vicki (Mart) Hutchings, Nancy (Marlowe) George of Beaver and Laurie (Keith) Griffiths of Delta. His wife and stepdaughter Amber (Shane) Davis and two grandchildren Naomi and Donna and his best pal in the world "Whiskers" his dog.
He had a quick whit great humor and the ability to make us all laugh. He will be greatly missed. He was one "Groovin Gary".
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 12:00 PM at the Minersville LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Family & Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Church in Minersville and on Friday from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at the Church. Interment will be in the Minersville Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.

Fans of Trent Harris' film The Beaver Trilogy had a little bit of happiness in their lives due to this earnest man. Rest in peace Groovin' Gary.

I didn't realize you meant Groovin' Gary when you commented on the link regarding Andy Hallet's passing. We finally get to learn his name and biography but no mention of his Olivia tributes? He was truly a special person.
This is so sad. He was a shining example of the light in us all. Just heard about his death. So sad, too early.
