PANTERA COWBOYS FROM HELL ULTIMATE BOX SET FEATURING T-SHIRT DESIGNED BY “DIMEBAG” DARRELL ARRIVES NOVEMBER 22
PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACK, “THE WILL TO SURVIVE,” SET FOR WORLDWIDE PREMIERE MONDAY, AUGUST 30 ON PANTERA’S FACEBOOK PAGE
LOS ANGELES – Originally released in 1990, Pantera’s COWBOYS FROM HELL turned modern metal on its ass and put Pantera in the musical history books. More than just their major label debut, most consider COWBOYS to be the official debut of the iconic Pantera lineup with singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul and bassist Rex Brown.
Rhino is marking the 20-year anniversary of COWBOYS FROM HELL with multiple offerings for Pantera fans of every generation. (Complete list follows below). All versions include a newly remastered copy of the original COWBOYS album along with unreleased and rare live performances from the era, and unreleased demos for nearly every album track.
“The Will To Survive,” a previously unreleased song recorded during the album’s demo sessions, is included in the Deluxe and Ultimate packages and will have its worldwide premiere on Pantera’s Facebook page (facebook.com/pantera) on Monday, August 30 at 12 noon EDT.
“’The Will To Survive’ is a great track,” says Paul. “I am definitely proud that it will see the light of day for all the die hard Pantera fans around the world, as it shows the true musical diversity of the band at that time!”
The Ultimate Edition box lands November 22 for a suggested list price of $99.98, just in time for the holidays to round out your personal Pantera collection or give to your favorite Pantera fan. The box includes custom artwork and a 60-page booklet with rare photos, expanded liner notes and replicas from the Cowboys era as listed below.

Dan Padilla Releases New Album For Free - Getcher Copy Here
Dan Padilla (which is a band - not a person) has announced a partnership with Paper + Plastick Records, Razorcake and Punknews.org to release the new album As The Ox Plows. The vinyl release is scheduled for later this year, (could I be more general), but fans and potential converts can download the album right now free free free. Yes free.
So hop to it and getcher very own digital copy for the excellent and reasonable price of FREE here at paperandplastic.com..
Official press release info:
Proving that punk rock can still be a collective community that isn’t about being cut throat and turning a profit, but focuses on the passion for the music, Paper + Plastick has also recently partnered with Panic Records and Suburban Home to release new music from Make Do And Mend and The Gamits. P+P founder Vinnie Fiorello says, “releasing the Dan Padilla songs with Punknews and Razorcake continues the trend of Paper + Plastick working with other labels and companies to release great music. I always liked the sense of community in the punk rock scene while growing up, and working together with other labels proves that you don’t need enemies in the business world… you just need a common goal or common passion.”
The dudes in Dan Padilla, which features members of Tiltwheel and Madison Bloodbath, have been involved in the San Diego DIY punk scene for two decades, setting up and running shows, recording, and helping touring bands with food and a floor to sleep on. Keeping the scene alive, the partnership of Dan Padilla and Paper + Plastick allowed the band to stay true to their DIY ethics and morals, while releasing their music to a broader audience. “We are very happy to put the record out with Paper and Plastick,” says vocalist/guitarist J. Wang. “We wanted some different ears to hear this record, and from the beginning Vinnie made it very clear that we didn’t have to do anything we were not comfortable with, and told us he wanted everyone involved with this record to come out of the project happy.”
Writing gruff, politically and culturally aware punk songs, Fiorello adds, “they remind me of the early Lookout! Records bands, with songs that give every ounce of sweat and blood in the writing and recording.” Of the release, Wang adds "The latest world and national events going on, like immigration and state wide laws being created to profile residents and infringe on their civil rights just by the origination of their culture is really scary. Preaching to the converted? That’s usually what we’re doing. If one person hears the record that has never heard Dan Padilla before and it sparks interest for them to learn about some type of cultural issue like the law on immigration in Arizona, or lack of civil rights due to your sexual preference, then I think we did a good thing.”
Dan Padilla is J. Wang (vocals/guitar), Gene Doney (drums), Davey Quinn (bass), and Matty Kirkley (guitar/vocals).

The State's "Lost" Comedy Album to be Issues by Rhino Handmade
In their never ending quest for the contents of your paycheck - Rhino handmade will release a comedy album from the classic troupe The State. The collection will be available September 21 and you may pre-order it exclusively at www.rhino.com here for $19.98.
If you haven't checked out the recently issued dvd set - the series holds up and brings back great memories for those of us who dutifully tuned into MTV to watch The State back when MTV also played music videos. I wish I could afford the box set - "I wanna dip my balls in it."
“It was a freeing experience because no one was watching over us, there were no adults around. We'd swim and drink and gamble all day and record the silly ideas we’d had that day up into the wee hours that night like kids making tapes in the basement. If you listen, you can hear the ice clinking in the rum drinks we had in hand at all times. I don't think any of us realized it was the last time we’d all be in the same place for an extended period of time working on a project that would actually see the light of day. Much of it was improvised by a group of people with no improv training whatsoever. We always assumed that one of the reasons it wasn’t released back then is because so much of it is so insane for back then.” - Kevin Allison
Joe Lo Truglio adds, “I heard once that the ’80’s Latino pop group Menudu used to turn over their members every three years, to keep the group young. Well this album's been marinating for over four Menudos, we're old as hell now, and ‘menudo’ means ‘soup’ which is a dumbass name for a band anyway. Bienvenidos a Gracious Living!”
Comedy For Gracious Living Track Listing

Elliott Smith was born Steven Paul Smith in Omaha, Nebraska on August 6, 1969. His father Gary Smith was in medical school at the University of Nebraska, and his mother Bunny was an elementary school teacher. When Elliott was one year old his parents divorced, and he moved with his mother to Dallas, Texas. That same year, his father was drafted, assigned to the U.S. Air Force, and sent to the Philippines as a physician. By the time Elliott was 5, both his father and mother had remarried and his father and stepmother moved to Portland, Oregon. From the age of four to thirteen, Elliott lived with his mother, stepfather and two half- siblings in Duncanville, TX (a suburb of Dallas). At fourteen, Elliott moved to Portland, Oregon to live with his father, stepmother, and two half-sisters. Elliott started to write and record songs at home in Portland on a four-track recorder. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1987 as a National Merit finalist. While in high school he formed
his first band, Stranger than Fiction. Elliott attended Hampshire College in Massachusetts and graduated in 1991 with a major in political philosophy. He then moved back to Portland and formed the band Heatmiser along with Neil Gust, his friend and fellow-musician from Hampshire College. Elliott released his first solo album, Roman Candle (Cavity Search), in 1994. He followed with the self-titled Elliott Smith (1995) and Either/ Or (1997), both issued on the independent label Kill Rock Stars. He also recorded three albums with Heatmiser in the early ‘90s: Dead Air and Cop and Speeder (both onFrontier) and Mic City Sons (Virgin/Caroline). In 1997 director and Portland resident Gus Van Sant used some of his songs in the film Good Will Hunting (Van Sant had been a friend and fan of Smith’s since hearing Roman Candle). One of those, “Miss Misery,” went on to earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Song in a Motion Picture. Elliott performed “Miss Misery” on the Academy
Awards telecast March 23, 1998. Elliott signed a contract with DreamWorks Records in 1998 and quickly released XO, his fourth solo album. That same year his cover of The Beatles“Because” was the end-credit song for the Academy Award winning film American Beauty. In 2000, Smith released his fifth solo album, Figure 8, to much critical acclaim. After the release of Figure 8 and subsequent touring in support of the record, Smith concentrated on writing and reworking more songs, many of which made up From a Basement on The Hill, which was released posthumously on Anti Records in October of 2004. Before his death on October 21, 2003, Elliott had realized his long time dream of building his own recording studio, New Monkey, located in Van Nuys, California. Kill Rock Stars released New Moon, in May 2007. New Moon is a double-CD collection of 24 songs recorded from 1994-97, during the period of the release of the self-titled album and Either/Or. KRS also reissued both Roman Candle and
From a Basement on the Hill in April 2010, placing all of Elliott's independent catalog onto one label.

New Album From Belle and Sebastian
The 8th album by Belle and Sebastian, Belle & Sebastian Write About Love, has not yet been given a release date.
A message from Stuart:
The new record is called Belle and Sebastian Write About Love.
While I was doing the art, I got Kim from the ace Glasgow band, Zoey Van Goey, to write this in chalk in a few secluded spots in Glasgow and I took her picture. If you haven't already, you can see her on the splash page.
What I was thinking is that it would be fun if some of you tried the same thing, and either filmed yourself doing it, or got someone to take a picture (it would be good to see you with your work!). You can then upload them to our Flickr group here for everyone to see (you will need to sign up to Flickr if not already a member and join the group).
We'll choose some of the most scenic, artistic and elaborate ones and present the best submissions with a trophy of some sort!
To sum up, I'd like to see pictures or footage of you writing either Belle and Sebastian Write About Love or Write About Love in secret or public places, in the town you live in.
Post them here and remember to use chalk or at least something non-permanent!
