that dog. to Release New Album Old LP October 4th
that dog. will release their first new album in over twenty years on October 4. The long awaited work titled Old LP will be released by UMe. It was recorded over the last three years in Los Angeles, and features eclectic and impressive guest appearances by Maya Rudolph (SNL, The Rentals), Randy Newman, Graham Coxon (Blur), Josh Klinghoffer (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Charlotte Caffey (The Go-Go's), Tanya Haden (The Haden Sisters), violinist Kaitlin Wolfberg, Andrew Dost (fun.), and husband Steven McDonald (Redd Kross).
The band had a brief reunion in 2011-2012 where they found creative energy from the exuberant reactions of their fans and the joy of playing with one another. They found themselves willing to work together again, but things had changed a lot from their experience as '90s rockers. Maxwell, a New York television executive would visit Los Angeles to collaborate. And L.A. resident Waronker is a kick ass mom and prolific composer who recently collaborated with Craig Wedren (Shudder to Think) on the score for the Aidy Bryant Hulu series Shrill. So considering travel, other projects and life in general, the creation of an entire album was a long process. Waronker explains, "By the end of 2012 we had four songs done." And "In 2013, we had a few more. We needed time to let it grow into what it would become. Sometimes it's hard to get there. Which is kind of the theme of the album."
You may pre-order Old LP here.
