Does my vote count (at the box office) / Monkey Themed MP3s

I've been lazy. I haven't been doing my part. I wanted to see Burn Before Reading. I wanted to see the new Bill Maher film Religulous on opening night. I even wanted to see two of my favorite freaks (as opposed to geeks) James Franco and Seth Rogan reunited on their pot fueled Pineapple Express. I have seen none of these things. Last week the number one movie was about a talking Chihuahua. Now I have no anti chihuahua campaign. Quite the contrary. When I was a kid we had this jerky racist slum landlord neighbor who was friends with my Dad and when he came over with his newest crappy oil painting - my dog Chico promptly pissed on it. He was not only a fine snuggling companion, but a blunt critic of the arts. I like chihuahuas but is this really what we want to see? A fish out of water tale about a Beverly Hills pooch in Mexico? Let me make this clear - when it comes to animals in films I stand firmly on the pro chimp side and other than that have no party affiliations. I just feel like the worlds of film and television are becoming "HILLSified" and it makes me cranky.

And I admit - I am not planning to go see The Secret Life of Bees. Yes I am sure it is a fine film. Yes I know everyone should go support films that feature women so that Hollywood will open their minds as we open our pocketbooks. (What is a pocketbook by the way? Also what is a cranny as opposed to a nook?) Back to my point. I'm just not interested in the films that people keep making that feature women in major roles. I want to see women in a buddy film. I don't mean like Thelma and Louise - although I quite enjoyed it. I'm all for a well done feminist piece any day, but what I really want to see is a silly fun heartwarming buddy film about female friends who want to get laid, and maybe drunk or high, and have a crazy exciting night of a lifetime. Is that too much to ask? If it isn't can I also ask that we add a chimp?
