THE FADER AND SOUTHERN COMFORT LOOK TO BROOKLYN FOR THEIR NEXT LIMITED EDITION 7-INCH FEATURING TELEPATHE & 77KLASH
The FADER And Southern Comfort Announce The Eighth Seven-Inch Vinyl In Series Featuring More Exclusive Unreleased Tracks; Available For Free MP3 Download For The First Time Ever
New York, NY: The FADER, the definitive voice of emerging music, and Southern Comfort announce the eighth installment in their series of limited-edition 7-inch vinyl releases curated by the editors of The FADER. This rare pressing of only five hundred copies will also be accessible to readers of The FADER, who will have the chance to win the limited record online at TheFADER.com. Beginning with this record, the tracks from all of the FADER/Southern Comfort series singles will also be available for free download at TheFADER.com.
To kick off the a-side, Southern Comfort and The FADER enlisted recent I Am Sound signees, Telepathe, to cut "Heat," an exclusive track that will not be available on their January debut album. The song stays true to their dance style while still exploring their signature droned out synth sounds. Flip the wax to 77Klash's "Caroline," where he keeps the dance vibe of the 7-inch alive with some aggressive reggae masquerading as funky house music with slick vocals. Slicking the cover is the exclusive artwork of acclaimed graphic novelist, Dash Shaw.
Previous releases in the series have included match-ups with the likes of indie groups M Ward and Ladyhawk, dancehall vocalists Busy Signal and Mavado as well as boundary destroying rockers Black Lips and YACHT. The final 7-inch of the 2007 series featured Ed Banger DJ, Busy P, as well as fellow Baltimore citizen DJ Blaqstarr. Continuing their tradition of showcasing emerging artists, The FADER and Southern Comfort kicked off the 2008 series with White Williams and Dirty Projectors and followed up with Africa issue cover stars BLK JKS, of South Africa, and Esau Mwamwaya, of London, paired up with the production duo Radioclit. This newest release comes off of the heels of the previous meeting of Alabama's Hood Headlinaz and Baltimore rappers Get 'Em Mamis.
