Ian Svenonius & Calvin Johnson / Chain and the Gang and The Hive Dwellers

You have to love a press release that begins "For Svenonius, this is another step in a life spent trying to do as little as possible."

Ian Svenonius has done the lecture circuit for his book The Psychic Soviet. He is known as the singer in the groups Make Up, Weird War, and Nation of Ulysses. His new band Chain and the Gang have a new album titled Down With Liberty … Up With Chains, which was Vice Magazine's album of the month for April. (Bit of an early prediction, no? As of today Svenonius will tour w/ Chain and The Gang backed by Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good to Me, City Center), Brett Lyman (Bad Thoughts, His Name is Alive), Brian Weber (Dub Narcotic Sound System) and Sarah Pedal. Mahjongg (see earlier post) will join them in the middle of their tour and Wallpaper will complete the dates.
