Artists Pay Tribute To Cult Music Favorite, The Late Judee Sill

Crayon Angel: A Tribute To the Music of Judee Sill

September 22, American Dust will release CRAYON ANGEL: A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF JUDEE SILL, which features Beth Orton, Bill Callahan, Ron Sexsmith, Final Fantasy, Nicolai Dunger, Marisa Nadler & Black Hole Infinity, Colossal Yes (with members of Six Organs of Admittance and Comets on Fire), Meg Baird, Frida Hyvönen, and Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear and Department of Eagles.

Judee Sill has the distinction of being the first artist signed to David Geffen's Asylum Records. She released two albums, 1971's Judee Sill and 1973's Heart Food, before exiting the music industry and later dying of a drug overdose in North Hollywood, California in 1979. Her albums were reissued on in 2005, and have garnered a cult following.

Trivia:

In addition to cover versions of Sill's published songs, Crayon Angel also features two unearthed - never before released Sill tracks.

Bill Callahan recorded "Like a Rainbow," which was co-written with Sill's onetime boyfriend Lal Baum (great-grandson of Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum.
