Navegante are profiled in this week's New York Magazine. They have an upcoming album titled Microcosmos on Rebel Ship Records June 19.
The band is fronted by Puerto Rican/Peruvian vocalist/composer/guitarist/cuatrista Jean Shepherd (Radio Mundial /Palm Pictures). You may have heard his song "La Raíz" covered by Carlos Santana as "El Fuego" on his album All That I Am. The band also features NYC's Wash Duke, the funk / Afrobeat / Latin drummer who fuses those styles with electronics. Guillo Colon (Yerbabuena) rounds out the trio on bass and synthesizers.
